Arkansas hosts talented 2023 QB Tad Hudson

With family in the area, it made sense for Cornelius (N.C.) William Amos Hough junior quarterback Tad Hudson to check out the Arkansas football program Friday on what has been a multi-school tour in June.

It was not the first visit to Fayetteville for Hudson (6-2, 225), a four-star prospect, the No. 13 quarterback and the No. 222 overall player in the 2023 class, per 247 Sports.

“My cousins live here,” Hudson said. “I’ve come up to a game before. Been here for a wedding and stuff.”

Arkansas was his last stop on a tour that has included several stops.

“I started off with Clemson, North Carolina, Tennessee, Florida State, Alabama, Notre Dame, Ohio State and here,” Hudson said. "This is the last stop. I’m kind of excited for it to be over for a little bit, just take a break, go to the beach.”

Hudson sized up his strengths.

“I’m a very poised passer in the pocket,” Hudson said. “I’ve got a very strong arm, I can just sling it around, make every throw on the field.”

Visiting Arkansas gave him a chance to work with Razorbacks offensive coordinator Kendal Briles.

“I did all right,” Hudson said. “I didn’t throw it too bad. I had a good time working out with Coach Briles. It was fun.”

Hudson, who has offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Tennessee, Texas, Georgia Tech, North Carolina, North Carolina State, South Carolina, Michigan State and other programs, is about ready to cut down his list of schools.

“My list will most definitely be narrowed in a couple of weeks,” Hudson said. “I don’t know if I’ll commit before the season or after. I'm still thinking about it, but definitely sooner than later.”

Arkansas is in the mix, even though it would be a long trip for his parents to make games.

“It’s pretty far, but I want the family to be able to see me play,” Hudson said. “I don’t want to have to drive too far. Good education, good football."

His high school played a 10-game spring schedule in 2021, and he passed for 1,549 yards and 16 touchdowns.

“It went pretty good,” Hudson said. “We were 9-1, had a good chance to win it, but we had 13 seniors leave early for college, so it hurt us a little bit.

"We still won a lot of games.”

The team will also play this fall.

“We have some talented guys outside and I think if I can get it in their hands it’ll be pretty good,” Hudson said.
