FAYETTEVILLE — SEC coaches voted two Arkansas players to the All-SEC women’s basketball teams Tuesday.
Arkansas senior guard Chelsea Dungee was a first-team selection, and graduate-transfer guard Destiny Slocum landed on the second team. Dungee has been voted All-SEC three straight seasons.
The Razorbacks’ leading scorer, Dungee averaged a career-high 22.2 points on 43% shooting and 39.1% from three-point range in the regular season.
She scored 20-plus points in 16 games, and 30 points or more four times. Dungee scored 37 in Arkansas’ home win over Connecticut on Jan. 28, and 38 points in a home win over Ole Miss on Feb. 19.
Dungee averaged a league-best 23.1 points in SEC play and added 20-plus points in 12 of 15 conference games. She seemed to play her best against the Razorbacks’ toughest competition, putting up 22 points on 45.7% shooting and 43.3% from three-point range against teams currently in The Associated Press top 10.
Dungee was beat out for SEC player of the year, however, by Kentucky's Rhyne Howard, who averaged 19.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. Howard was named the league's player of the year for the second consecutive season.
Slocum, who transferred to Arkansas from Oregon State last summer, has been selected as an all-conference performer in three different leagues. She was All-Pac-12 at Oregon State and All-Big Ten as a freshman at Maryland.
Slocum averaged 15.6 points and four assists per game during the regular season. Among Slocum's top performances was a 29-point outing on 11 of 15 shooting in the Razorbacks’ win at LSU on Feb. 21, and a 22-point, 10-assist double-double against Missouri on Feb. 4.
Arkansas (19-7, 9-6 SEC) is the No. 6 seed in the SEC Tournament and is scheduled to open with a game against 11th-seeded Ole Miss (10-10, 4-10) on Thursday in Greenville, S.C. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on SEC Network.
The Razorbacks defeated the Rebels 84-74 in their earlier meeting and have won five straight games in the series.
