Wolfenbarger named Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year

Arkansas freshman Jersey Wolfenbarger has been named Arkansas Girls Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year.

She also won the award as a junior.

Wolfenbarger, 6-6, of Fort Smith Northside, was an ESPN 5-star prospect, the No. 1 wing and No. 7 overall player in the 2021 class.

She led the Lady Bears to a 26-2 record and the Class 6A state championship as a senior, averaging 19 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.7 blocks per game. She was the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Player of the Year and a finalist for the Naismith High School Girls Player of the Year trophy.

Wolfenbarger was also selected to the WBCA High School Coaches’ All-America team and is a finalist for the 2021 USA Women’s U19 World Cup team.

She chose the Razorbacks over more than 30 scholarship offers from schools such as Oregon, Oregon State, Baylor, Southern Cal, Florida, Mississippi State, Texas, Miami and Notre Dame.

The McDonald’s All-American recently reported to Fayetteville to begin her career at Arkansas.
