Hard-hitting Valley View sophomore linebacker Brian Huff received an offer from Arkansas coach Sam Pittman on Tuesday.

“I was super excited. It means a lot,” said Huff, who also plays for the school's basketball team. “It’s my dream school. I’ve wanted to play there for a while now, since I started football in the seventh grade.”

Huff, 6-3, 215 pounds, received an offer from Arkansas State shortly after he announced his offer from the Hogs. He's also drawing interest from Memphis.

He and his mother plan to visit Fayetteville on Saturday.

“I think it will be a good experience,” Huff said. “It will be my first time going up there. It will be fun. They have nice facilities.”

He recorded 72 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 3 quarterback hurries, 3 interceptions, 3 pass deflections, 2 forced fumbles and 2 recovered fumbles this season. He was named to the All-Arkansas Preps Underclassmen team.

“He’s very athletic, long, but in saying that (is) super physical,” Blazers coach Sean Cockrell said in an earlier interview. “He wants to put everybody on the ground. Very heady as far as football goes. He understands the game, understands leverage and where he’s supposed to be.

"He’s only 15 years old, so he has a long way to go as far as growing into his body. He plays the outside linebacker position about as good as we’ve had at Valley View.”

His mother cried when he told her of the offer from the Razorbacks.

"She’s excited and the rest of my family is excited, too,” Huff said.

He is the third in-state sophomore to be offered by Arkansas.
