FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas added a commitment from a transfer infielder Friday.

Jordan Sprinkle, a shortstop from UC-Santa Barbara, announced his commitment to the Razorbacks in a post to his Twitter account. He completed his redshirt sophomore season with the Gauchos in 2022.

According to Kendall Rogers of D1Baseball, Sprinkle entered the NCAA transfer portal on June 8, three days after UCSB was eliminated by No. 2 overall seed Stanford in regional play.

In 2022, Sprinkle finished with a .285 batting average and .797 OPS, hit 3 home runs and drove in 35 runs in 56 games. He led the Gauchos with 25 stolen bases in 34 attempts and was second with 4 triples.

Sprinkle recorded a fielding percentage of .930 and had a hand in 24 double plays.

The previous season, in 58 games, Sprinkle hit .353 with an OPS of .938, 7 home runs and 32 RBI. He finished with 18 doubles, 2 triples and was successful in 26 of 31 stolen-base attempts.

Defensively he posted a .936 fielding percentage. Sprinkle turned 51 double plays and committed 27 errors in 404 total chances the last two seasons.

Sprinkle is eligible for the MLB Draft that begins July 17. Baseball America rates him the 156th-best prospect in the draft.

Sprinkle is one of four known Division I players who have announced a transfer to Arkansas since the end of the regular season. The Razorbacks have also picked up commitments from Kansas second baseman Tavian Josenberger, Creighton outfielder Jared Wegner, Nebraska right-handed pitcher Koty Frank and at least 10 junior college players.

CORRECTION: Sprinkle's OPS for the 2022 season was transposed and has been corrected.
