Notae joining Golden State for summer league

Former Arkansas guard JD Notae will join the Golden State Warriors for summer league action.

Notae, the Razorbacks’ All-SEC and All-America guard in 2021-22, was not selected in last week’s NBA Draft. But he is one of 19 players on the team’s summer league roster, the Warriors announced Wednesday

Notae will be joined by former Razorbacks standout Moses Moody, who won an NBA championship with Golden State earlier this month.

"(Tuesday) I was just at (Moody's) house with him just kicking it and watching movies," Notae told reporters during a Zoom press conference on Wednesday. "He just told me to go out there and be myself and just play hard."

Notae said he first had an idea he could play at the professional level after the Razorbacks' loss to eventual national champion Baylor in the 2021 NCAA Tournament Elite Eight in Indianapolis. He won Southeastern Conference sixth man of the year that season.

As Arkansas' lead guard in 2021-22, he led the Razorbacks in scoring at 18.3 points per game, including 19.7 in SEC play.

"I just had that desire and that will to just want to get better," Notae added. "I felt like that would take me to be a pro in the long run."

Arkansas coach Eric Musselman offered the guard some advice on how to separate himself and stand out with the Warriors this summer.

"Just going in there, being vocal and just trying to pick up on the terminology as quick as I can, and just go out there and play my butt off," Notae said. "At the end of the day, that was our culture at Arkansas – just go out there and play hard.

"At the end of the day, if I do that then I can leave everything else on the court."

Payton Willis, who played high school basketball at Fayetteville High School, is also on the team's summer league roster.

The Warriors will begin summer league play at the 2022 California Classic in San Francisco. They are scheduled to play the Sacramento Kings on July 2 at 6:30 p.m. The game will air on ESPN2.

Golden State’s second game in San Francisco is set for July 3 at 6:30 p.m. against the Los Angeles Lakers. The game will air on NBA TV.

The Warriors are scheduled to play one game at the Salt Lake City Summer League on July 5 before heading to the NBA 2k23 Summer League in Las Vegas, where they will play at least four games from July 7-17.
