FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas is scheduled to open the 2025 football season against Missouri State.

The game is scheduled for Aug. 30, 2025, at Reynolds Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville. It was agreed to in March 2021, according to a contract obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request.

The Springfield (Mo.) News-Leader first reported the matchup.

It is one of two games under contract between the Razorbacks and the Bears, who are scheduled to play Sept. 17 in Fayetteville. Missouri State is in its third season under Bobby Petrino, the Arkansas coach who was fired for misconduct in April 2012 following his fourth season in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks have won all seven previous meetings against Missouri State, including twice when Petrino was Arkansas' coach. The teams last played in 2011.

Arkansas has four nonconference games scheduled for 2025. The Razorbacks are also scheduled to play Arkansas State in Little Rock, at Memphis and at home against Notre Dame that year.

All of those games were agreed to before the SEC announced it would add Texas and Oklahoma to the league by the 2025 season. SEC leaders are expected to discuss future conference scheduling at meetings next week in Destin, Fla., which could necessitate changes to nonconference schedules in 2025 and beyond.
