Slusher, Brown suspended at least 1 game

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas defensive backs Myles Slusher and Anthony Brown have been suspended for at least one game following their arrests early Sunday morning in connection with disorderly conduct.

Arkansas coach Sam Pittman announced the suspensions at his Monday news conference when asked for an update on the players’ availability ahead of Saturday’s home game against LSU. Both players, he said, have morning runs and will participate in practices this week as part of the scout team.

“It’s unfortunate, but it’s not acceptable,” Pittman said. “Part of our job is to teach these kids and hopefully we’ll get that done.”

Pittman noted he found out about the arrests Sunday when Arkansas athletics director Hunter Yurachek called him.

“We talked about what we've done in the past with disciplinary actions and then we call the kids in and talked to them,” Pittman said. “We have our team meeting this afternoon, so I haven't talked to players about it besides the two players that were involved in the incident.”

Slusher has had an up-and-down 2022 season when factoring in injuries. He left Arkansas’ season opener against Cincinnati with an upper-body injury and did not play the next two weeks against South Carolina and Missouri State.

The week after returning for the Razorbacks’ loss to Texas A&M, Slusher injured his calf vs. Alabama and missed the team’s 1-1 stretch against Mississippi State and BYU. He recorded 10 tackles during Arkansas’ win at Auburn and loss to Liberty.

Slusher, for the season is No. 12 on the team with 20 tackles, has 4 tackles for loss and 2 sacks.

Brown, a true freshman, has not played a snap this season, according to Pro Football Focus. A former 3-star prospect from Milan, Tenn., he signed with the Razorbacks over offers from Tennessee, Wisconsin and Indiana, among other schools.
