FAYETTEVILLE — The Arkansas men’s basketball team fell in The Associated Press Top 25 poll that was released Monday.

The Razorbacks (5-1) dropped two spots to No. 11 in the latest rankings following a 2-1 stay at the Maui Invitational last week. Arkansas defeated Louisville 80-54 in its first game at the event, lost 90-87 to then-No. 10 Creighton, then defeated then-No. 17 San Diego State 78-74 in overtime in the finale.

According to HogStats.com, Arkansas is ranked 11th in the poll for the first time since February 1992.

According to CollegePollTracker, the Razorbacks were ranked as high as No. 6 by two voters. Arkansas was not included on one ballot.

ESPN college basketball analyst Dick Vitale, who placed Arkansas at No. 2 on his ballot on Nov. 21, dropped the Razorbacks to No. 22 this week.

In a bit of a twist, the Razorbacks share the No. 11 ranking with SEC rival Alabama.

The Crimson Tide rose seven spots this week after finishing 2-1 at the Phil Knight Invitational with victories over then-No. 12 Michigan State and then-No. 1 North Carolina. They lost their second game at the event to then-No. 20 Connecticut.

Creighton rose three places to No. 7 in the poll, and San Diego State slid to No. 24. Texas, which Arkansas lost to in a preseason exhibition, is No. 2 in the poll.

Other SEC teams in this week’s rankings are Tennessee (13), Auburn (15) and Kentucky (19).

The Razorbacks return to play tonight against Troy in Bud Walton Arena. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m., and the game will air on SEC Network.
