Davis re-joins Razorbacks after 1 game away

Arkansas guard Davonte Davis celebrates making a three-pointer against South Dakota State on Wednesday, Nov. 16, 2022, in the Razorbacks’ 71-56 win in Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas guard Davonte Davis has re-joined the Razorbacks’ basketball team, according to a statement from the junior on Wednesday.

“I am excited to be back with my teammates and coaches,” he said in a release. “I want to thank my family, our fans, the Razorback basketball program and especially Coach Muss for the support shown to me this last week.

“I look forward to continuing my development as a leader and basketball player as this team focuses on our goals for this season.”

A native of Jacksonville, Davis did not play in Arkansas’ 74-61 victory over Troy on Monday. In a statement from Eric Musselman prior to tipoff, he said Davis was “taking some time away from basketball” and had the full support of the team.

Davis did not play after halftime in the Razorbacks’ overtime win over San Diego State at the Maui Invitational last week.

In six games this season, Davis is averaging 8.5 points on 35.8% shooting and 2.7 rebounds per game. He is also third on the team with 16 assists.
