FAYETTEVILLE — After a season away from basketball due to health issues, Sasha Goforth will return to the court for Arkansas in 2023-24.
Goforth, a 6-1 native of Fayetteville, announced on social media Saturday that she will suit up again for the Razorbacks after a year of receiving medical treatment for gastroparesis, which is essentially paralysis of the stomach. It is a condition she has dealt with since her junior year of high school.
She transferred to Arkansas prior to the 2021-22 season after spending her freshman year at Oregon State. She started all 32 games in her first season with the Razorbacks and averaged 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2.1 blocks and 1.4 assists.
Goforth remained with the team in 2022-23 but was not in uniform.
While at Oregon State, she averaged 11.6 points and 3.6 rebounds per game. Goforth was on the Pac-12 All-Freshman team.
Goforth was rated the No. 21 recruit in the class of 2020 by HoopGurlz, the recruiting service ESPN uses. She was a McDonald’s All-American and the Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year in 2019 at Fayetteville.
