FAYETTEVILLE — University of Arkansas golfer Mateo Fernandez de Oliveira’s action-packed summer is getting even more busy.

The senior from Buenos Aires, Argentina, was selected on Tuesday to represent Team International for the second consecutive year at the Arnold Palmer Cup in June.

Fernandez de Oliveira was the only player on his team to post a 4-0 record last year in Switzerland, when Team International posted a 33-27 win over Team USA. He took victories in mixed fourball, foursomes, mixed foursomes and singles, where he notched a 4&3 win over Johnny Keefer. He is the fifth Razorback man to compete in the Palmer Cup and the first South American to be selected twice.

This year’s Palmer Cup will be held June 8-10 at Laurel Valley Golf Club outside of Ligonier, Pa., which was Palmer’s home course.

Fernandez de Oliveira’s win in January at the Latin American Amateur Championship gave him exemptions to The Masters, the British Open, the U.S. Open and some amateur championships this year. He has also been invited to play in the PGA’s Mexico Open, which will be competed at Vidanta Vallarta starting Thursday.

Fernandez de Oliveira, who is No. 27 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings, and the Razorbacks will learn their NCAA Regional draw next week.
