Delce nabs SEC award after big weekend

Arkansas pitcher Chenise Delce (7) follows through with a pitch Thursday, May 26, 2022, during the second inning of the Razorbacks' 7-1 win over Texas in the Fayetteville Super Regional at Bogle Park in Fayetteville.

Arkansas redshirt-senior pitcher Chenise Delce was named SEC softball co-pitcher of the week, the league office announced Monday.

The honor came after a masterful four-day stint at the Razorback Invitational that saw Delce notch four wins in the circle. She pitched 18 1/3 innings over the weekend and gave up just 2 runs while striking out 25 batters.

The Oklahoma City native held opponents to a .127 batting average and led Arkansas to two wins over 13th-ranked Arizona.

Delce’s 1.45 season ERA is second best among SEC pitchers who have made at least 10 appearances. Her six wins are tied for second most in the league.

Delce shared the honor with Georgia’s Madison Kerpics.
