Razorbacks stay put in coaches poll

FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas remained ranked sixth in the USA Today Baseball Coaches Poll on Monday. 

The Razorbacks (33-11, 14-7 SEC) went 3-1 last week with a three-game series sweep of Texas A&M at Baum-Walker Stadium and a mid-week loss at Missouri State. 

Arkansas is among five SEC teams ranked in the top six of this week’s poll, along with LSU (1), Florida (3), South Carolina (4) and Vanderbilt (5). 

The SEC leads all conferences with seven teams ranked in the poll. Tennessee is ranked 16th and Kentucky is ranked 21st. 

Other conferences with multiple teams in the poll are the ACC (6), Pac-12 (4) and Big 12 (3). The Conference USA, Big South, Sun Belt, American and Big East are represented by one team apiece.

Arkansas has a 5-2 record against teams ranked in this week’s poll. The Razorbacks have remaining games scheduled against South Carolina and Vanderbilt. 

The Razorbacks are scheduled to play Lipscomb on Tuesday at Dickey-Stephens Park in North Little Rock and at Mississippi State for three games beginning Friday. 

Arkansas has been ranked in 87 consecutive polls since 2017, and has been ranked in the top 10 in 42 of the last 43. The coaches poll is the poll of record for the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. 

In other national polls released Monday, Arkansas was ranked fifth by Perfect Game and Collegiate Baseball, and sixth by D1Baseball and Baseball America. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll will be released later Monday.
