Landon Rogers commits to Odom, UNLV

Arkansas receiver Landon Rogers carries the ball Thursday, March 9, 2023, after making a catch during practice in the university practice facility in Fayetteville.

Former Arkansas wide receiver Landon Rogers announced he is transferring to UNLV.

Rogers, a former standout at Little Rock Parkview, stated plans to play for the Rebels in a post to his Twitter account Saturday. He announced his intent to transfer from the Razorbacks on April 19, four days after Arkansas’ final spring scrimmage.

“Thank you University of Arkansas for the opportunity. I am forever grateful,” Rogers wrote. “Thanks to my family and all who have supported me during this transfer process. I would proudly like to announce my commitment to UNLV.”

The Rebels, who finished 5-7 in 2022 after a 4-1 start, hired former Arkansas defensive coordinator Barry Odom as its head coach in December. He replaced Marcus Arroyo, who went 7-23 at UNLV in three seasons.

Rogers is the third Razorback from the team's 2022 roster to commit to the Rebels out of the NCAA transfer portal since season's end. He joins offensive lineman Jalen St. John and linebacker Jackson Woodard.

Rogers played in one game at Arkansas and, according to Pro Football Focus data, received three snaps in the Razorbacks’ win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff during the 2021 season. He did not record any statistics.

Rogers initially signed with Arkansas over offers from Houston, Kansas and North Texas. He was a consensus 3-star quarterback in high school and considered the No. 5 prospect in Arkansas, according to Rivals.

With the Razorbacks, Rogers transitioned from quarterback to tight end then wide receiver. In 2021, former Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles told reporters that Rogers approached the coaching staff about a position change to increase his chances of seeing the field.

Rogers caught two passes for 31 yards in the Razorbacks’ spring scrimmage on April 15.
