FAYETTEVILLE —Arkansas running back Isaiah Augustave and defensive back Alfahiym Walcott earned weekly honors from the SEC following the Razorbacks’ 44-20 victory over Florida International, the league office announced Monday.
Augustave was named SEC freshman of the week and Walcott was named SEC defensive player of the week. They became the sixth and seventh Razorbacks to earn a league honor this season.
Augustave led Arkansas with 101 rushing yards on 14 carries to pace a 323-yard night on the ground — the team's best of the season. The freshman from Naples, Fla., saw his role increase after tailbacks Raheim “Rocket” Sanders (shoulder) and Rashod Dubinion (knee) exited the game early with injuries.
It was the second rushing performance of at least 100 yards by an Arkansas player this season. Sanders ran for 103 yards in a Nov. 4 overtime victory at Florida.
Walcott had two interceptions against the Panthers, including a 33-yard pick six in the second quarter which gave the Razorbacks a 21-13 lead. He also intercepted a pass late in the third quarter. Walcott had five tackles, which were tied for second most on the team.
Augustave joined defensive back Jaylon Braxton as the second Razorback to be named SEC freshman of the week this year. Walcott joined Lorando “Snaxx” Johnson as Arkansas’ second player to earn defensive player of the week honors in 2023.
