Sanders' availability up in the air for LSU game

Arkansas running back Raheim Sanders (5) walks onto the field prior to the Razorbacks' game against BYU on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2023, in Fayetteville. Sanders missed his second consecutive game with a knee injury.
FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas running back Raheim “Rocket” Sanders is questionable for the Razorbacks’ football game at No. 12 LSU on Saturday.
Sanders, a junior who named to The Associated Press Preseason All-America Team in August, has not played since Arkansas’ season-opening victory over Western Carolina on Sept. 2. Coach Sam Pittman previously said Sanders has swelling around a knee.
“It’s probably too early to tell on that injury,” Pittman said Monday when asked if Sanders will play against LSU. “We’re going to have him out there today [at practice] to see where he’s at.”
Arkansas’ run game accounted for 172 yards against Kent State and 177 yards against BYU without Sanders. AJ Green has rushed 24 times for 168 yards and 2 touchdowns as the primary back in Sanders’ absence.
Sanders ranked second in the SEC with 1,443 rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns last season. He carried 15 times for 42 yards and 2 touchdowns against Western Carolina.
