Top Soph. OL surprised but happy with Bielema hiring

Zach Rogers

Sophomore offensive lineman Zach Rogers, who's expected to be one of the top 2015 prospects in the Lone Star state, likes Arkansas' hiring of Bret Bielema as the Hog coach.

"When I saw it," said Rogers, who has scholarship offers from Arkansas and Texas Tech. "I was somewhat surprised because I've been keeping up with it to see who it might be but I never saw his name. When I found out who it was I was excited. He's done well this year. I was pretty happy to see who it was."

Rogers, 6-3, 275, 5.06 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Carrollton, (Tx) Hebron started as a 14 year old freshman in the highest classification in Texas and over the summer earned his offer from the Hogs with his outstanding performance at Arkansas' Junior-senior prospect camp in July.

Since 2007, the Badgers' starting quarterbacks have thrown for more than 2,400 yards four times with totals of 2,607, 2,705, 2,459 and 3,175 yards but Wisconsin is probably best known for its power running game.

"I definitely like it he runs the ball and I definitely like that," said Rogers, who will turn 16 on Dec. 23. "I like to run block and move people around."

Rogers, who bench presses about 355 pound and squats about 460, sees Bielema getting the Hogs back on the winning track.

"I definitely think it's good one that Arkansas can get back going in the right direction now," Rogers said. "I definitely think he can help them do that."
