Razorbacks extend SEC streak to three

— Lyndsay Harris scored 17 points, one of four Arkansas players to score 10 or more points, leading the Razorbacks to their third consecutive SEC victory, 72-52, over LSU.

The Razorbacks (14-5, 3-4 SEC) have beaten LSU three consecutive times dating back to last January, when they ended a 16-game losing streak to the Tigers. Arkansas is 12-27 all time against LSU.

Ashley Daniels had 11 and Baton Rouge native Dominique Robinson and senior C’eira Ricketts had 10 each.

“Well, it was a good win for us,” Arkansas Coach Tom Collen said. “We played with a lot of confidence and it was great to get a win on the road.”

The Razorbacks, 1-3 in SEC road games, made 28 of 59 shots (47.5 percent) and hit a season-best eight three pointers at LSU’s Maravich Center. Harris hit 4 of 7 from three-point range. Arkansas made 8 of 9 free throws.

Arkansas was credited with 17 steals as LSU committed 27 turnovers. Twelve of LSU’s turnovers came in the first half, helping the Razorbacks take a 38-22 halftime lead.

Courtney Jones led LSU (13-6, 4-3) with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Adrienne Webb, who had 11 points, was the only other LSU player to score more than five points. The Lady Ligers out rebounded Arkansas 32-25.

LSU was playing without senior point guard Destini Hughes, who injured her right knee in a 65-56 loss to Tennessee on Thursday. Hughes was averaging 7.3 points, 2.6 assists and 2.7 rebounds.

Arkansas beat LSU for a second consecutive time in Baton Rouge, the first time since 1995-1996.

The Razorbacks continue SEC play at Mississippi State on Jan. 26.

NO. 6 KENTUCKY 57, FLORIDA 52

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Kastine Evans scored all of her 10 points in the second half to help Kentucky hold off Florida.

The Wildcats (18-2, 7-0) created separation early in the second half.After a 21-21 halftime score, Evans scored eight points during a 17-2 Kentucky run to open the second half.

Florida led for much of the opening 20 minute, while the Wildcats couldn’t find an offensive rhythm. Kentucky leading scorer A’dia Mathies was scoreless at halftime and finished with a season-low two points.

Jordan Jones led the Gators (13-7, 3-4) with 13 points.

NO. 15 GEORGIA 61, MISSISSIPPI 47

OXFORD, Miss. - Georgia opened the game with a 30-2 run at Mississippi and never looked back.

Georgia (16-4, 5-2) forced 12 turnovers in the first half and took advantage of Ole Miss’ 7-for-27 (25.9 percent) shooting from the floor. Ole Miss (12-8, 2-5) trailed 43-15 at halftime.

Georgia was led Anne Marie Armstrong with 15 points, Khaalidah Miller with 13 and Jasmine Hassell with 11. Valencia McFarland and Tia Faleru led Ole Miss with 13 points each.

SOUTH CAROLINA 65, NO. 25 VANDERBILT 60, OT

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - La’Keisha Sutton scored 20 points, making four three-pointers to help South Carolina beat Vanderbilt.

Sutton scored five points in the extra period for the Gamecocks (15-5, 4-3). Aleighsa Welch had 11 points and nine rebounds, and Markeshia Grant scored 10 points, including two free throws with 2:45 left in overtime.

Christina Foggie scored 16 and Tiffany Clarke had 15 points for the Commodores (14-5, 2-4), who lost their third consecutive SEC game.
