NFL preseason update

Several former Razorbacks were in action over the weekend during the first week of the NFL preseason.

Ronnie Wingo led the Atlanta Falcons in rushing Thursday. He carried the ball four times for 29 yards, though the Falcons lost to the Bengals 34-10.

Cobi Hamilton also had a carry in the game, rushing for 17 yards. Hamilton recorded just one catch for no gain.

On the same day, Peyton Hillis rushed four times for 13 yards in his debut with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He hyperextended his left knee during the 44-16 loss.

Ross Rasner recorded one tackle in Denver's 10-6 win over San Francisco.

On Friday, Ryan Mallett, in relief of Tom Brady, completed 9 of 18 passes for 97 yards before leaving the game with a head injury. He conducted two scoring drives. Mallett is expected to be able to play in New England's next preseason game. The Patriots beat the Philadelphia Eagles 31-22.

Felix Jones made his debut with the Eagles in that game and rushed eight times for 31 yards. He also added a reception for nine yards.

Tyler Wilson played as the fourth-string quarterback for the Oakland Raiders in their preseason game against Dallas Cowboys. He completed 3 of 6 passes for 28 yards in the Raiders' 19-17 win.

Darren McFadden also carried the ball three times for five yards and added a reception for eight yards.

Knile Davis suited up for the Kansas City Chiefs and carried the ball five times for just seven yards and made four receptions for 18 yards, but Davis' highlight of the game was a 79-yard kick return.

D.J. Williams caught one pass for eight yards in the Green Bay's 17-0 loss to Arizona.

Another former Arkansas pass-catcher, Jarius Wright, recorded one reception for 10 yards in the Vikings' 27-13 loss to Houston.

Dennis Johnson ran the ball seven times for 11 yards in the game. Johnson also handled the return duties for the Texans, returning three punts for 34 yards and returning one kickoff for 18 yards.

Joe Adams returned two punts for 35 yards in the Panthers' 24-17 win over the Chicago Bears.

In the Detroit Lions' 26-17 win over the New York Jets, Chris Houston recorded one tackle. Alonzo Highsmith recorded one tackle in Miami's 27-3 win over Jacksonville.

The first week of preseason play came to a close Sunday with the Buffalo's 44-20 win over Indianapolis. Rookie tight end Chris Gragg recorded two receptions for 14 yards in the Bills' win.
