Arkansas running back commitment Juan Day will have to wait until January to get back to Fayetteville after having to cancel his official visit this weekend due to the wintery conditions. He’s looking forward to enjoying a good meal on his return trip.
“I haven’t been down there in awhile and I’m just really ready to eat at the Catfish Hole,” Day said. “Probably the hush puppies and the fried fish.”
Day, 6-2, 210, 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of North Little Rock said he’s about 40 percent after rehabbing from a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered against Pine Bluff in September. Video highlights CLICK HERE
He said his physical therapist Bo Renshaw runs a tight ship.
“He’s like a coach,” Day said. “He pushes all of us because there’s like four of us in there on the football team. Coach Bolding expects us to work just as hard as we do with him.”
Day, who had 115 carries for 930 yards and 13 touchdowns in nine games as a junior, rushed 40 for 319 yards and 2 touchdowns before suffering his injury.
“I’m going to compete really well, because I have no problem with competing with other players,” said Day about his intentions next year at Arkansas. “I just want to contribute and turn the program around.”
After his injury, Day saw his weight fall from 212 pounds to 207.
“I’m going to try and get back up to 215,” Day said. “I’m sure when I get up there they’ll do the rest.”
Day said his competitive nature helps him be a leader.
“When my teammates are down, I try to motivate them,” Day said. “In the South Panola game we kind of shutdown a little bit. I saw my team kind of drop their heads when they scored a touchdown. The next time I got into the game I knew I had to make a big play and I made a long touchdown. My teammates saw that I didn’t quit so we rallied together.“
