Arkansas offensive line coach Sam Pittman keeps junior college offensive lineman Sebastian Tretola on his toes when the two talk.
“He called me the other night and I said hello and he said ‘Do you want to be great' and I’m like what?" said Tretola laughing. "It’s crazy things like that. Crazy conversation starters which makes for good conversations. He and I are real close.”
Tretola, 6-4 1/2, 315, 4.9 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs signed with Nevada out of high school in 2011 and redshirted as a freshman. He started four games the following year before transferring to junior college. Video highlights CLICK HERE
Coach Bret Bielema emphasis on offensive line play is a big plus in the Hogs’ pursuit of Tretola.
“I definitely like that a lot,” said Tretola, who arrived in Fayetteville on Thursday to begin his official visit. “Same thing with coach Pittman obviously.”
Prior to his trip to Arkansas, Tretola officially visited Texas Tech, Oklahoma, South Florida and TCU. He likes Pittman’s plans for him should he become a Hog.
“The reality of it is, I don’t have tackle size,” said Tretola, who’s a December graduate and will have two years to play two said. “So I’m going to play guard. Coach Pittman wants me to learn how to snap. That’s a money maker right there if you can play guard and be able and snap the ball. That’s going to help with the league.”
Tretola is more aware of his recruitment than he was coming of out of Cajon High School in San Bernardino, California.
“I’m definitely paying more attention to the process now,” he said.
He plans to make his decision on Wednesday, the first day midyear junior college transfers can sign.
“I’m going straight home from the visit and go over with the family and decide on signing day,” Tretola said.
