Poche named SEC freshman of the week
Arkansas pitcher Colin Poche fires a pitch during the first game of Tuesday afternoon's doubleheader against New Orleans at Baum Stadium in Fayetteville.
FAYETTEVILLE Arkansas pitcher Colin Poche was named the Southeastern Conference's player of the week on Monday.
Poche, a left-hander from Flower Mound, Texas, threw 7 1/3 shutout innings and struck out seven batters in a pair of wins for the Razorbacks. He pitched five innings in a Tuesday start against New Orleans and recorded 2 1/3 innings out of the bullpen against Evansville on Sunday.

He and freshman right-hander Trey Killian have combined to throw 15 innings without an earned run this season for Arkansas (7-1). Killian earned the win in his first career start Sunday.
Poche was a fifth-round selection of the Baltimore Orioles in the 2012 MLB Draft. As a senior at Marcus High School he was named the Dallas Morning News pitcher of the year.
