Houston commitment has high interest in Hogs

Running back Denzell Evans hosted Arkansas running backs coach Joel Thomas and offensive line coach Sam Pittman for an in-home visit Monday afternoon.

Evans, 5-11, 210, 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Bellaire, Texas is committed to Houston but is very interested in the Hogs and was thought to be visiting Fayetteville this weekend but that's not the case.

"They moved my visit back to the first," Evans said. "They'll let me know about my situation. They have Alex Collins coming down this weekend and they're going to see what he's going to do and after that they can move forward with me if he doesn't commit this weekend."

Thomas gave Evans the low down on the Arkansas program and what the coaches have planned for the future.

"I've been telling them from the beginning, I'm very interested in the school," Evans said. "I like where they're going. I'm still here."

Evans, who has officially visited Houston and Michigan State, rushed 105 times for 814 yards and 11 touchdowns this past season. He detailed the reasons for his high interest in the Razorbacks.

"For one, the coaching staff they've assembled I feel like that's an all star cast of coaches ," Evans said. "Playing in the SEC you're playing against the best every day, games, practice. The facilities there are top-of-the-line."

After leaving Evans' home, Thomas and Pittman made an in-home visit with his teammate, offensive lineman Dwayne Johnson, who's expected to make an official visit to Arkansas on Jan. 25 or Feb. 1.
