Arkansas, Cal to meet in Maui

Arkansas will be Mike Anderson's second team to coach at the Maui Invitational.

— Arkansas will face California on Nov. 25 in the first round of the Maui Invitational.

The game, which will tip-off at 2 p.m. on ESPN2, is the first known marquee nonconference matchup for the UA basketball program in the 2013-14 season. As part of its inclusion in Maui, the Razorbacks will host Louisiana at Bud Walton Arena on Nov. 15.

Arkansas will play either Syracuse or Minnesota in the second round on Nov. 26. Other teams in this year's field are Gonzaga, Baylor, Dayton and Chaminade. The invitational includes three games for each team in Maui and runs through Nov. 27.

Arkansas beat 2013 participants Minnesota and Chaminade in the 1991 Maui Invitational.

Arkansas last played Cal in 1986, beating the Golden Bears at the Rainbow Classic in Honolulu. It was the only time the two teams have played.

Cal went 21-12 last season before falling to Syracuse in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The Bears are coached by Mike Montgomery, whose 656 career wins are sixth-most among active coaches.

Arkansas' trip to Maui is the third for the program and first since 2005. The Razorbacks are 3-3 all-time there, finishing tournament runner-up in 1991.
