Hill takes in camp and Arkansas campus

Bryant receiver K.J. Hill (left) is tackled by Conway safety (28) after catching a pass for a first down during a 2012 game at Hornet stadium in Bryant.

Receiver K.J. Hill made a name for himself last year at Bryant when he had 48 receptions for 845 yards and 11 touchdowns and being named to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette Super Sophomore team.

Hill. 6-0, 178, 4.5 seconds in the 40 yard dash, has since transferred to North Little Rock. He attended Arkansas' prospect camp on June 10 and was one of the 2015 prospects the Hog coaches wanted to take a hard look at.

"I think I did better than what I thought I was going to do because my hip was hurting me," said Hill, who estimated being about 75-80 percent at the camp."I was just trying to do my best. I think I did the best I could."

He said receivers coach Michael Smith seemed pleased with his effort.

"Coach Smith talked to me and told me there’s not a lot more I need to do to get a scholarship," Hill said. "He said to work on my footwork and stay in the weight room."

Hill, who plans to attend camps at Auburn and Ole Miss, was able to get a tour of the campus.

"I finally got to see Arkansas, it's nice and big and they had some crazy stuff on the campus like a Walmart," Hill said. "I never pictured a college campus would have a Walmart or anything like that."

During the Dallas Nike Combine in April, Hill recorded a SPARQ rating of 115.14 with a 4.66 seconds time in the 40 yard dash, 35.6 -inch vertical, 4.00 pro-shuttle time and a 39 foot power ball.

During the tour he was able to take a look at the new football complex that's expected to open in a few weeks.

"Everything is bigger and up-to-date," Hill said. "The new locker rooms are going to be nice. The meeting rooms are nice and everything is up-to-date."

Hill is also a prospect in basketball as a point guard and plays for the Arkansas Soldierz. He has interest from Arkansas, Baylor and Ole Miss. Missouri State recently inquired.

On the football field, Hill is best known for his playmaking ability in the open field.

"I'm just trying to score," Hill said. "Any move that's going to help me get away from a man and get into the end zone that's what I'm going to do."
