Arkansas receivers coach Michael Smith works with his team during practice Saturday morning at Razorback Stadium in Fayetteville.

One of the nation's elite football prospects and an Arkansas assistant are related. Razorback receivers coach Michael Smith and receiver Malachi Dupre are second cousins.

His mother and Smith's mother are first cousins.

Dupre, 6-2, 190, 4.4 of River Ridge (La.) John Curtis said he and three teammates, linebacker Kenny Young, defensive backs Terrence Alexander and Mattrell McGraw are planning to visit Arkansas over the summer but haven't set a date.

He said Arkansas offensive lineman Luke Charpentier, who attended John Curtis, has told him great things about the Razorbacks.

Sophomore tight end-defensive end and Denmark exchange student Hjalte Froholdt, 6-5, 275 pounds of Warren, (Ohio) Harding High School had a very nice visit to Arkansas on Thursday, according to his coach Steve Arnold.

Froholdt complemented the coaches for the way they hosted him and his father during the visit. He was surprised how hilly the campus and surrounding area was. He was able to meet with the academic support staff and spend time with Coach Bret Bielema. Froholdt told him Bielema was straight forward with him during their talks.

The chance to play in the SEC is very intriguing. He also liked the roster and his chances to come in and play as a member of the 2015 class.

He visited Notre Dame on Monday, Michigan State on Tuesday, Ohio State Wednesday and Michigan this weekend.

Froholdt's mother plans to arrive in the country at some point to accompanied him and his father for a tour of schools this summer. He'll know which schools they'll visit at the end of the week.

He hopes to make a decision late July or early August.

Receiver Jeffery Mead, 6-5, 180 of Tulsa Union is interested in checking out Arkansas. He and former Hog offensive lineman Alvin Bailey are cousins. He reports having about 15 scholarship offers.

Mead also plays small forward in basketball in addition to playing baseball. He said he's interested in playing two sports in college.

Tight end Avery Edwards, 6-5, 230, 4.6 of Raleigh, (N.C.) Ravenscroft School has 10 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, his lone SEC offer.

He rates his interest level high because of the SEC and his lead recruiter and tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. He commented how impressed he was that Arkansas had more than 50,000 fans for the spring game.

Edwards plans to make a trip to Arkansas this summer for a camp or just a visit.

Arkansas cornerback target Raymond Wingo, 6-1, 174, 4.31 of St. Louis University High School won the district 100 meter title with a 10.67 time on Saturday. He will compete in the state meet this weekend.
