— Brandon Mitchell announced he will transfer to North Carolina State for his final season of eligibility on Monday.

Mitchell joins another former SEC quarterback at NC State. Former Florida quarterback Jacoby Brissett transferred to NC State in the off-season, but he will be forced to sit out next season while Mitchell, as a graduate of the University of Arkansas, can play immediately in his fifth and final year of college football eligibility.

"Bottom line is I want to win, and I want to win now. They have the best opportunity for success and just had one missing piece," Mitchell told ESPN. "I like the culture, coaches, expectations within the program all the way at the top, and most importantly chemistry."

Former Northern Illinois coach Dave Doeren left the Huskies to take the head coaching job with the NC State Wolfpack prior to NIU's BCS bowl appearance last season. In his time at NIU, Doeren coached dual-threat quarterback Jordan Lynch, who passed for 3,138 yards and 21 touchdowns to just six interceptions and was the nation's fourth-leading rusher with 1,815 yards last season.

Mitchell completed 25 of 43 passes in his career at Arkansas for 332 yards and 3 touchdowns. Mitchell also played two for the Arkansas basketball team in two different seasons.

Mitchell's announcement came just one day after Arkansas coach Bret Bielema announced A.J. Derby would be the Razorbacks' backup quarterback if the season started "tomorrow."
