Maumelle DE turns heads at combine

Maumelle defensive end Kendall Donnerson shined at the Arkansas Football Combine on Saturday.

Maumelle defensive end Kendall Donnerson recorded some of the fastest times in the 40 yard dash at the 16th annual Arkansas Football Combine held at North Little Rock High School on Saturday.

Combine his first two times of 4.38 and 4.41 seconds along with his size of 6-foot-4-inches and 215 pounds and Donnerson had one of the best, if not the best performance of the day.

“I'm pretty proud of what I ran,” said Donnerson, who averaged 6.6 points while playing for the Hornet's basketball team this past season. “I tried to get a 4.3 because I've been running a 4.4 in the past few combines and camps. I just tried to get a better time.”

Arkansas tight ends coach Barry Lunney Jr. has been by the school while Arkansas State has also been showing interest.

“I'm going to camp at Arkansas, going to the Arkansas State camp and some more but don't know yet," he said.

Donnerson, who has a reported 37.5 inch vertical, said he made All State and All Conference honors while having about 100 tackles and 20 sacks as a junior.

“I play a little wide receiver, but mostly D-end and outside linebacker,” said Donnerson, who reports needing to improve his ACT test. “I'm a pretty good D-end because I'm quick off the line. Strength wise, I just blow by people and push them back.”

At the end of the combine, Donnerson was one of the 10 fastest athletes selected to compete in a race off. While he didn't win, he did record times of 4.53 and 4.37 seconds in his two attempts.
