Tuesday recruiting tidbits

Kevin Shorter (3) looks to block for D.J. Dean (2). Dean, of Newton, Texas, signed to play for the Razorbacks.

Running back Kevin Shorter of Newton, Texas said on Twitter that he plans to take official visits to Arkansas, UCLA, Texas A&M, Florida State and Texas. He's committed to the Longhorns.

Shorter, 5-11, 185, 4.38 seconds in the 40 yard dash, said Arkansas has been with him throughout the whole process and even after he pledged to Texas. Coach Bret Bielema and running backs coach Joel Thomas have been selling him on their willingness to play freshmen the Hogs along with the SEC and the chance to play with his cousin D.J. Dean.

He said his doctor told him he's doing better than expected after suffering a bruised spinal cord earlier in the season. His next doctor appointment is next Monday.

Linebacker Sharieff Rhaheed, 6-4, 212 pounds, 4.7 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Fort Pierce (Fla.) Central said his top three schools are Arkansas, Missouri and Louisville. He's officially visited the Hogs and Tigers. He plans to visit the Cardinals Jan. 17-19. He also is looking to visit Southern Cal.

He said he plans to make his decision after his Louisville trip.

Defensive end Demetrius Jackson, 6-4, 225, 4.6 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Miami Washington High School said he plans to visit the Hogs on Dec.13-15. He said he's being recruited by Coach Bret Bielema, defensive line coach Charlie Partridge and linebackers coach Randy Shannon.

Receiver Adonis Jennings of Sicklerville, (N.J) Timber Creek is high on Arkansas and is looking forward to reconnecting with the Arkansas staff. On Sunday, he announced on Twitter that he had decommitted from Rutgers. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Arkansas is one of several schools pursuing safety Kiy Hester of Wayne, (N.J.) De Paul Catholic after opening his recruiting up since decommitting from Rutgers.

Arkansas tight end commitment Jack Kraus of Bentonville graded 88% and had 5 pancake blocks. He had two receptions for 14 yards.

Offensive lineman Brian Wallace Jr. of St Louis Christian Brothers College Prep will officially visit Arkansas Dec. 13-15.
