Texas junior LB hoping to attend Hog bowl practice

Junior linebacker Jordan Carmouche, who has an offer from Arkansas, is looking forward to watching the Hogs take on Texas in the Texas Bowl in Houston on Dec. 29.

“It’s very exciting to see two great teams go at it,” Carmouche said.

Carmouche, 6-1, 200, 4.6 of Manvel, Texas received the scholarship offer from the Razorbacks after a good showing at the June 19 camp. He also has an offer from Houston. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He recored 57 tackles, 6 tackles for loss, 2 sacks, 1 quarterback hurry, an interception, 4 pass breakups and a forced fumble this season for the 13-1 Mavericks.

Running backs coach Joel Thomas visited his school on Tuesday. He said they communicate on Twitter on a regular basis.

“Really everything,” Carmouche said of their conversations. “Our season, their season and when I’ll come down again. Things like that.”

Carmouche, who lives approximately 30 minute from Houston, hopes to be able to visit an Arkansas practice leading up to the bowl game. He's looking to visit Fayetteville in a few months.

“Hopefully in the spring,” he said.

Conference affiliation is one of the reasons for Carmouche’s interest in the Hogs.

“They’re in the SEC and I have a good bond with the coaches,” he said.

Working with linebackers coach Randy Shannon was one of the highlights of his summer visit.

“He’s a great coach,” Carmouche said. “Easy to connect with and he had great drills and techniques.”

After see the Hogs progress during the season, Carmouche is optimistic about the future.

“They were right there and on the way up,” he said. “Every game was good. They just need that one more push and they’ll be great.”
