Official visit wows Williams

Rawleigh Williams III became Arkansas' 10th commitment for the class of 2015 in June.

Arkansas running back commitment Rawleigh Williams III said his official visit to Fayetteville over the weekend exceeded his expectations.

“It was a great visit, it was better than I expected even though I’m committed here,” said Williams, who will wear number 22 for the Hogs.“It was just really genuine and everything about it was really cool.”

Williams, 5-10, 198 pounds, 4.51 seconds in the 40-yard dash, of Dallas Bishop Lynch was hosted by Hog running backs Jonathan Williams and Tyler Colquitt. Spending time with them and other players were the highlight of the trip. Video highlights CLICK HERE

“I hung out with J Will and TQ (Coleman) and Taiwan (Johnson) and all of those guys on the first day,” Williams said. “I hung out with Juan Day and I got with Tyler Colquitt, he was my host. I hung out with a lot of people. It was a lot of fun being around them and you already feel like a part of the team.”

Williams, who was accompanied by his parents, Rawleigh Jr. and Kim accompanied him on the trip, had 341 carries for 2,814 yards and 37 touchdowns and 15 receptions for 198 yards and 5 touchdowns this season.

National recruiting analyst Tom Lemming of CBS Sports Network rates Williams a 3-star plus prospect.

"Number 22 runs power, speed and vision," Lemming said. "Rawleigh is a strong runner who can run through arm tackles and gains plenty of yards after contact. He's quick and nimble , which allows him change directions and avoid fast defenders."

Jonathan Williams played for Allen, Texas prior to signing with the Hogs.

“We talked about everything,” Williams said. “He’s from Texas and we kind of talked about the transition from high school to college and what to expect when you get here from the coaches to the stye of offense that we play and playing in the SEC everyday and just different things about teammates. It was really cool because he kind of already put me under his wing already regardless if he’s going to be here or not and let me know what to expect.”

Arkansas hosted seven other commitments, including offensive lineman Joshua Allen, tight ends C.J. O’Grady and Will Gragg along with safety-linebacker Dre Greenlaw.

“It was really cool,” Williams said. “It was fun, those guys are funny I hung out with Josh Allen a lot and obviously Will a lot…C.J. we out together last night, Dre last night it was real fun. They’re good guys.”
