This will be the former Arkansas pitcher's third stint with the Cubs this season, as he has split time between triple-A and the big leagues.

Last season, Parker was one of the Cubs' top middle relief pitchers, with an ERA of 2.72 in 46 1/3 innings pitched, but he has struggled in 2014. In his previous stints with Chicago this season, he has allowed three runs in 2 2/3 innings pitched across three appearances.

With the Iowa Cubs, Parker owns a 1.44 ERA this season and leads the Pacific Coast League with 18 saves. He is Iowa's all-time leader in saves with 59.

The call-up follows Chicago's trade of starting pitchers Jeff Samardzija and Jason Hammel to the Oakland Athletics on Friday.
