Junior CB shines at TCU camp, Arkansas next

Fort Smith Northside cornerback Kiondre Thomas impressed the Arkansas coaches last week.

Fort Smith Northside junior cornerback Kiondre Thomas got the attention of the TCU coaching staff after a good showing at camp on Friday.

Thomas, 6-0, 165 pounds reports running a time of 4.37 seconds in the 40 yard dash, jumping 35 inches in the vertical and having a 4.35 pro-shuttle time. Video highlights CLICK HERE

Horned Frog Coach Gary Patterson spoke to him.

“After I ran my 40, Coach Patterson and like three other coaches came up and talked to me,” Thomas said. “They were talking about an offer and they were going to get back to me on Tuesday. I guess they're trying to check my transcript.”

Thomas wished he had more one-on-one opportunities during the camp.

“But I got an interception in the process,” Thomas said. “I did well in the testing and did well in the drills and in the one-on-ones.”

He saw limited playing time as a sophomore, but was very productive when he was on the field.

“I had like a six carries for a 150 yards,” he said. “I had one kick return for like 80 yards for a touchdown and an interception.”

The TCU camp was his first for the summer.

“I was going to Oklahoma State and Arkansas, but I ended up spraining my ankle,” Thomas said. “So I couldn’t go.”

He plans to attend Arkansas’ Elite Camp on Thursday.

“I’m trying to do what I did at TCU, except better,” said Thomas, who’s also seeing interest from Arkansas State and Memphis. “So I can hopefully get an offer from them. That would mean the world to me. That’s the school I’ve always wanted to go to since I was little.”
