The Detroit Tigers traded Drew Smyly to the Tampa Bay Rays as part of a three-way deal to bring David Price to Detroit Thursday, according to multiple reports.

Smyly made his last appearance with the Tigers Thursday before the trade. He gave up four earned runs on 11 hits in five innings of work, but earned a no decision.

Overall, he is 6-9 with a 3.93 ERA and 89 strikeouts in 105 1/3 innings pitched this season. He started 18 games for the Tigers and made three appearances out of the bullpen.

He will join former teammate Logan Forsythe in Tampa Bay. Smyly was a freshman in 2008, Forsythe's last year at Arkansas.

The Tigers will send Smyly and minor league shortstop Willy Adames to the Rays and outfielder Austin Jackson to the Mariners, while Seattle will send second baseman Nick Franklin to Tampa Bay to complete the trade.
