Texas LB gives Jennings thumbs up

LB Jordan Williams plans to visit Arkansas.

Linebacker Jordon Williams approves of the recruiting approach of Arkansas defensive backs coach Clay Jennings.

“He’s like down-to-earth,” Williams said. “He knows where players come from and how they’re suppose to take the recruiting process. He makes it easy on you.”

Williams, 6-1, 195, 4.59 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Houston Jersey Village has 13 scholarship offers, including Arkansas, Louisville, Utah, Wake Forest and Iowa State. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He’s hoping to visit Fayetteville this summer or for an official visit at some point. Williams looking for a school with a family atmosphere and a winning attitude among the players.

“If I go to a school to visit and I can feel the football team is like a family, a close knit family and everybody looks out for everybody and everybody wants everybody to be successful and the campus is what I like, then that will be it,” Williams said.

Williams is an excellent student with a 6.3 grade point average on a 7-point scale. He’s unsure on a major.

“I tell everybody, I’m not sure what I want to do yet,” he said. “I kind of want it to find me because whatever my calling is I’m going to know when I see it.”

Williams, who's being recruited to play the Will linebacker spot by Arkansas, recorded 58 tackles, 2 interceptions, 3 recovered fumbles and a forced fumble as a junior. He’ll listen to the sales pitch of each school, but he’s more concerned by what he experiences during visits.

“I could careless what they’re telling me,” Williams said. “I just want to see firsthand if the players get along with each other. Do they want to win as a team or are they individuals? Coaches can leave, players usually won’t.”
