Special the the Arkansas Democrat Gazette/MATT JOHNSON - 10-11-2013 - Nashville wide receiver LaMichael Pettway runs up the middle during first-half action at Arkansas Baptist on October 11, 2013
Receiver La’Michael Pettway was able to get a more in-depth look at Arkansas during Thursday’s visit to Fayetteville and he liked what he saw.
“I was impressed with the campus and I got to meet a lot of the players,” said Pettway, who received a scholarship offer from the Hogs during the visit. “I talked to the receivers quite a bit. It was a pretty good experience.”
Pettway, 6-3, 200, 4.50 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Nashville also has scholarship offers from Alabama, Louisville, Ole Miss, Arkansas State, Nebraska and Southern Miss. He recorded 54 receptions for 1,054 yards and 17 touchdowns this past season.
He’s the ninth in-state prospect in the 2015 class to receive an offer from the Razorbacks. Attending the Hogs’ practice was the highlight of the trip.
“I liked going out there and watching them practice,” said Pettway, who attended two Arkansas games in the fall. “ The intensity of it. I liked how the receiver approached practice and how they went at the DBs.”
After a one-on-one meeting with Coach Bret Bielema, Pettway said he felt at ease with the head Hog. He spent a good amount of time with receivers coach Michael Smith.
“He’s always made a good impression on me,” Pettway said of Smith. “He’s going to tell you the truth about everything. He’s not one of those that’s going to tell you something just to get you to go there. He’s real about everything.”
Pettway, who celebrated his birthday on Thursday, said the offer along with Bielema and his staff increased his interest in the Razorbacks
“I think I’m liking Arkansas a lot more,” he said.
