Davis improves combine numbers with additional weight
Bryant offensive lineman Cameron Davis is looking to add 10-15 pounds to his frame before next season.
ARLINGTON, Texas Bryant offensive lineman Cameron Davis improved on three of the four events at this year’s Nike Football SPARQ Combine at AT&T Stadium while carrying additional weight.
He attended last year’s combine and recorded a 5.25 time in the 40 yard dash, jumped 23.8 inches in the vertical, ran a 5.12 shuttle and had a 36 power ball at 6-3, 262 pounds. Video highlights CLICK HERE
Davis was measured at 6-3 and weighed in at 270 on Saturday.
“I think I did alright, my 40 time I slipped,” Davis said. “That’s probably the only thing that held me back and my shuttle where I slipped. Everything else was pretty solid.”
He recorded a 5.29 time in the 40, had a 26 inch vertical, 4.60 pro-shuttle and a 36.5 foot power ball toss for a SPARQ rating of 76.72.
Davis, who has scholarship offers from Arkansas State and Southern Miss, enjoyed competing in the the nation’s finest stadium.
“It was nice,” Davis said. “It’s my first time being here. Last year we were at the high school.”
He traveled to Fayetteville and attended Arkansas’ spring game on April 26.
“I got to talk to the coaches and interact with some of the players,” Davis said. “Boy, it was hot so I left like at halftime, but other than that it was nice.”
Davis is the son of former Hog offensive lineman Isaac Davis, who played seven seasons in the NFL. He’s one of several in-state prospects the Razorbacks want to evaluate at camp.
“They want me to come up to the camp,” Davis said. “They said I’ve been getting bigger, faster and stronger and they’ve been watching my film. They’ll be down for spring ball to watch me play.”
He also has plans to attend camps at Arkansas State, Southern Miss and probably Texas.
“If I got an offer from Arkansas they would probably be my top,” Davis said. “I like them a lot. It would help me grind harder and keep going.”
Davis isn’t satisfied with his weight and plans to increase his girth in time for the season.
“Season wise, I want to be at 280-285,” said Davis, who wears an 18 size shoe. “ So just lifting and eating.”
