Like It Is

Hopefully UA fans get their money's worth

Arkansas players run on to the field prior to a game against Mississippi State on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011 at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock.

Some of the last 2,400 tickets finally were released to War Memorial Stadium to sell, but with a mandatory $35 donation to the Razorback Foundation for each ticket.

That makes them $100 each, which to be honest is high, especially for end zone seats.

That's $84,000 for the Razorback Foundation, which is a lot of money. But when you have a football program that is expected to raise $40 million this year (including donations), it is easy to see why it could have been waived for this one game, which is probably the final SEC game that will be played in WMS.

If you are already a donor, tickets remain $65 each.

Some believe the UA doesn't want a sellout, and that in a couple of years when the school moves the one game out of central Arkansas it can point to this game and say WMS couldn't even sell out a game against the No. 10 team in America.

I'm not sure I totally buy that, but it would have been nice if the $35 could have been waived for what appears to be the final SEC battle in The Rock.

I got back on track with my picks last week and went 7-2 to bring the season total to 50-11. Here are this week's picks:

GEORGIA AT ARKANSAS

The Bulldogs' lone loss was to South Carolina, 38-35, and the Gamecocks were able to move the ball successfully through the air. Dylan Thompson passed for 271 yards and three touchdowns, but South Carolina also had 176 yards rushing. The Bulldogs are run-oriented, as is Arkansas, so this one could come down to turnovers. Both offenses love to keep the other team off the field. That doesn't mean it will be a fast game. There is no such thing anymore with all the TV timeouts. Georgia is coming off an easy shutout of Missouri. Arkansas, of course, lost a heart-breaker to Alabama. This is the week for the Razorbacks to play hard all four quarters in front of a great crowd. Arkansas, 28-24

TEXAS A&M AT ALABAMA

The Tide will move the ball much easier on the Aggies than they did against the Razorbacks. If the Tide can put a little pressure on sophomore quarterback Kenny Hill, it will pay dividends. For some reason, Aggies Coach Kevin Sumlin said this week that this isn't the same Alabama team as the past two years. True, but without Johnny Manziel it isn't the same Texas A&M team, either. Alabama, 35-24

MISSOURI AT FLORIDA

Missouri quarterback Maty Mauk had four interceptions and the Tigers lost a fumble last week against Georgia, while the Gators lost a heart-breaker to LSU. This is a game Will Muschamp needs almost as much as oxygen., Florida 9-7

KENTUCKY AT LSU

The Tigers must avoid a letdown. These Wildcats are pretty good, especially on defense. But the Wildcats have never experienced as hostile of an environment as they will for this 6:30 p.m. kickoff in Death Valley. It is a tough place anyway, but let the sun go down and Tigers Nation gets downright mean. LSU, 28-21

TENNESSEE AT OLE MISS

The Rebels are for real and are on a roll. Their defense is excellent, and Bo Wallace isn't as erratic as he was last season. The Vols are improved but not enough. The SEC West should remain undefeated against the SEC East. Ole Miss, 35-17

FURMAN AT SOUTH CAROLINA

After winning 11 games each of the past three seasons, Steve Spurrier finds himself in the middle of a rebuilding season. Today that won't mean much. The Paladins have lost four consecutive games. Make that five. South Carolina, 35-3
