Texas RB impressed with Hogs' running game

Patrick Carr

Running back Patrick Carr, who's high on Arkansas' wish list, liked what he saw in the Hogs’ 49-28 victory over Texas Tech.

The Hogs ran for 438 yards and had a pair of running backs go over 100 yards. Alex Collins gain 212 yards and Jonathan Williams rushed for 145.

“That’s like beyond another level of running the ball,” said Carr, who has the Hogs as his leader. “They ran real smooth and fluid.”

Carr, 5-9, 190, 4.4, of The Woodlands, Texas, did some running Friday night and ended up with 96 yards and a touchdown on 17 carries in a 24-7 victory over Katy and ended the night as the school’s all time leading rusher with 3,915 yards. Video highlights CLICK HERE

He has a best time of 10.57 seconds in the 100 meters and is also looking to run track in college.

“He's got great speed,” said Woodlands Coach Mark Schmid. “He’s got a low center of gravity, very powerful legs, great sense of balance and great vision. He has the ability to see things and make cuts while he's running full speed. That's what makes him the back that he is."

Depending on the time of the game, Carr is looking to visit the Hogs with his parents for the UAB game on Oct. 25. He and running backs Coach Joel Thomas talk on a regular basis.

“We really don't talk about football,” Carr said. “We want to build a relationship besides football. Because football you can build a relationship if you love the game. You have to love the game, but also talk about life, not just football.”

Carr, who rushed 230 times for 1,635 yards and 15 touchdowns as a junior, is also looking to officially visit TCU, Duke and Colorado. He’s uncertain when he’ll make his decision.

“I'm still praying on it and talking to my family,” he said.
