Hogs hold second spring scrimmage

— Arkansas held its longest scrimmage of the spring Saturday at Razorback Stadium.

For the second consecutive week, the Razorbacks' offense and defense took turns with highlight-making plays. The first- and second-team offenses had scoring drives during limited non-situational work Saturday, while the defense had six sacks.

Working with the first-team offense, Brandon Allen led a 15-play, 63-yard drive during the non-situational portion of the scrimmage. Allen completed 5 of 6 passes during the scrimmage for 32 yards.

The first offense converted three third downs and a fourth down during the long scoring drive. The drive was capped by Allen's 3-yard touchdown run.

He completed 12 of 16 passes during situational drills for 205 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Allen threw a 14-yard touchdown to Jeremy Sprinkle and a 7-yard touchdown to Chris Jones during redzone work.

Austin Allen led the second-team offense on a 12-play, 65-yard scoring drive during the non-situational scrimmage, capped by a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jack Kraus.

Kraus had a 23-yard reception on a third down to set up the touchdown.

Austin Allen completed all four of his pass attempts during non-situational work for 35 yards. He was 7-for-8 in the situational drills for 62 yards.

Defensively, Deatrich Wise had three sacks during the non-situational scrimmage, while Khalia Hackett, Armon Watts and Karl Roesler all had one apiece. The defense had eight sacks during situational work, led by Watts and Jeremiah Ledbetter with two each.

Hackett had four tackles during the non-situational portion working with the first-team defense. D.J. Dean, DeAndre Coley and Dwayne Eugene all pass break-ups during the scrimmage, and Eugene also recovered a fumble.

Cole Hedlund made consecutive field goals from 55 and 59 yards to end the scrimmage. Adam McFain was good on a 55-yard attempt, but his 59-yard try fell short of the crossbar.

Toby Baker had two punts totaling 54 and 52 yards.

Alex Collins went through situational work. He ran six times for 30 yards, including a strong 14-yard run in which he knocked over linebacker Josh Williams near the sideline.

With Jonathan Williams sitting out the practice, Kody Walker got the majority of the carries Saturday. Walker ran 11 times for 31 yards during the non-situational portion, and had nine runs for 34 yards in situational work.

Sprinkle caught four passes for 77 yards combined Saturday, including a 44-yard reception in which he outran several defenders. Keon Hatcher had three catches for 39 yards in situational work after sitting out last week.

Eric Hawkins had three receptions for 37 yards during situational work with the reserve offense. JoJo Robinson made a good 19-yard reception over the middle on a pass from Brandon Allen during situational drills.
