James McCann's first extra-base hit of the season came in the form of a triple in the Detroit Tigers' 9-1 win over the Chicago White Sox Sunday.

The former Arkansas star has been the Tigers' backup catcher since Opening Day and has appeared in six games, helping Detroit to a 10-2 record, the best in the big leagues.

After tripling to leadoff the third inning of Sunday's game, he scored on an RBI single by Rajai Davis.

This season, McCann is 3-for-19 (.158) with a triple, two RBIs, two runs scored, one walk and four strikeouts.

Keuchel Continues to Dominate

Dallas Keuchel is off to a dominant start, helping the Houston Astros to a surprising 6-6 record, the best in the AL West.

The former Arkansas pitcher is 2-0, but could easily be 3-0. He left with a two-run lead against the Texas Rangers on April 12, but the Rangers came back to tie it up. The Astros eventually won in extra innings, but Keuchel got a no decision.

After tossing six scoreless innings against the Los Angeles Angels Saturday, his ERA is 0.90, the fifth-lowest in the MLB among pitchers with three starts.

In 20 innings of work, Keuchel has allowed only two earned runs on 11 hits and nine walks, while striking out 14.

Forsythe Homers Against Yankees

Logan Forsythe is having the best season at the plate by a former Arkansas player so far this year.

In the Tampa Bay Rays' 5-4 loss to the New York Yankees Friday, Forsythe went 3-for-4 with a home run.

The homer, a solo shot off Yankees pitcher Adam Warren, was his second of the year. In 13 games, he is 11-for-42 (.262) with three doubles, two home runs, five RBIs, five runs scored, five walks and seven strikeouts. He also has a stolen base.

Gentry Stays in a Slump

With his 0-for-3 performance in the Oakland Athletics' 4-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals, Craig Gentry is now hitless in his first 17 at bats of the season.

He also struck out twice in the loss to the Royals, bringing his season total to six.

While the former Arkansas player has yet to collect a hit, he has walked twice and scored a run.
