Highly regarded power forward Ted Kapita of Huntington Prep in West Virginia has signed and faxed in his national letter of intent with Arkansas, according to Grant Taylor of The Herald-Dispatch.
Kapita, 6-9, 222 pounds, committed to Arkansas in February, choosing the Razorbacks over numerous scholarship offers from schools that included West Virginia, Memphis, Oregon and Missouri.
He moved to the United States in 2011 from Kinshasa, Congo, and played his junior season at Florida Air Academy in Melbourne before attending Huntington his senior year.
Kapita talked about what he'll bring to Fayetteville.
“Energy and my potential,” Kapita said. “They will enjoy having me there.”
He's very aggressive on the boards and embraces rebounding.
“Yeah, it's big part of the game,” Kapita said. “It’s just a gift God gave me and I use it in many ways.”
Kapita and Arkansas center Moses Kingsley, who's from Nigeria, hit it off during the recruiting process.
“Just African connection,” Kapita said. “He came from same high school I'm at. Good guy, very friendly. I like his personality."
He's rated the No. 8 power forward and the No. 40 overall prospect in the nation by ESPN.
Arkansas signed combination guard Jimmy Whitt, 6-2, 170, of Columbia (Mo.) Hickman during the early signing period in November.
The Hogs are actively recruiting others for the 2015 class.
