Texas lineman hooked on Hog Call

Offensive lineman Dawson Deaton embraced Arkansas' famous Hog Call.

It only took one time for sophomore offensive lineman Dawson Deaton to hear the Hog Call during Saturday's visit for the spring game and he was hooked.

“I think the Woo Pig Sooie chant is really cool,” Deaton said. “I think it’s one the coolest chants. I think it’s better than Florida State’s.”

Deaton, 6-5, 270, 5.3 seconds in the 40 yard dash, of Frisco, Texas is drawing interest from Arkansas, Texas, Texas Tech, Fresno State and Columbia.Video highlights CLICK HERE

The 41,000 plus fans at the Red-White game also impressed.

“I really liked the fans,” Deaton said. “You can tell they really like their team.”

Running backs coach Jemal Singleton is his area recruiter.

“I would really like to come back for another visit,” Deaton said. “I was thinking about coming for one of the camps this summer.”

His teammate and highly recruited sophomore offensive lineman Jack Anderson inquired about the Razorbacks. After hearing about Deaton’s experience in Fayetteville, Anderson named the Hogs as one of six schools that he’s highly interested in.

“He’s pretty familiar with the fans and stuff because he has an offer,” Deaton said. “I just told him it was really cool and he was asking me how it went. He was asking how the facilities were because he’s interested in Arkansas too. I told him they were very nice. I was just telling him how nice it was.”
