When offensive lineman Klint Harvey decided to be a preferred walk-on at Arkansas, his hometown of Corning beamed with pride.
“It’s just way different going around in Corning,” Harvey said. “Everyone will say ‘Hi’ that didn’t use to. Corning is a pretty friendly town, but it seems like all the older people are interested. Everybody is a Razorback fan here.”
Harvey, 6-7, 325 pounds caught the eye of Arkansas offensive line coach Sam Pittman while competing at Razorback camps. He also had interest from Missouri, Arkansas State, Arkansas-Monticello and Central Arkansas. Video highlights CLICK HERE
“Then they started getting the big lines and I went to their camp and I tried my hardest and he said I had an opportunity to be a Razorback,” Harvey said of Pittman “I thought that was awesome, so I took it.”
He plays center for the Bobcats in basketball and is averaging about 10 points and 9 rebounds.
“I’m averaging more blocks than rebounds,” Harvey said. “The most I’ve had this year was 12 or 13.”
Harvey is confident he’ll earn a scholarship while in Fayetteville.
“I think I can go up there and work harder than someone else and get that scholarship,” Harvey said. “You just have to have more heart than the other guy.”
