FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas sophomore Amanda Wellick, who capped the No. 12 Razorbacks’ come-from-behind upset of No. 6 Alabama last week with a huge performance on the floor exercise, was named co-SEC gymnast of the week on Tuesday.
Wellick, the SEC’s freshman of the year last season, shared the honor with LSU’s Jessie Jordan. The Wheaton, Ill., native scored a 9.95 on the floor to finish off Arkansas’ 196.325 to 196.175 victory, win the first floor exercise title of her career and cap off her second all-around championship with a 39.475.
Wellick and the Razorbacks take on No. 19 Auburn at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
