— For the second straight year, Arkansas will participate in the Big 12-SEC Challenge.

The Razorbacks will host Texas Tech on Jan. 30 at Bud Walton Arena.

Last season, Arkansas traveled to No. 20 Iowa State and lost 95-77. The Razorbacks were not selected to play in the inaugural event.

The Big 12 has won the challenge both years and holds a 13-7 record against the SEC.

The Texas Tech game is the third known nonconference game for the 2015-16 season. Arkansas will also travel to Dayton and Wake Forest as return games in a home-and-home series.

The Razorbacks will reportedly play in the NIT Tip-Off, as well.

The last time the Razorbacks played the Red Raiders was the 2006-07 season, when Arkansas lost 71-56 at Verizon Arena in North Little Rock. In 77 all-time meetings, Texas Tech holds a slight 39-38 edge.

Only two of Arkansas’ games against Texas Tech have been nonconference matchups, as the pair used to be Southwest Conference members.

Texas Tech will be the fourth different Tubby Smith-coached team to play in Fayetteville, joining Tulsa, Georgia and Kentucky. Smith is 13-9 against Arkansas all-time, but only 3-4 at Bud Walton Arena.

He won his last seven games against Arkansas while at Kentucky.

It will also be a chance for Dusty Hannahs, who sat out during the 2014-15 season because of the transfer rule, to play his former team. Hannahs averaged 7.3 points per game during two seasons with the Red Raiders.

Arkansas will could play its former SWC foe in all three major sports next year. Texas Tech comes to Fayetteville for a football game Sept. 9 and both schools' baseball teams are in the Houston College Classic at MinuteMaid Park.

ESPN or ESPN2 will televise eight of the Big 12-SEC Challenge games, while ESPNU will televise the other two.

Arkansas has already signed on to play in the 2017 Big 12-SEC Challenge.
