The Recruiting Guy

Friday recruiting tidbits

NWA Media/DAVID GOTTSCHALK - 10/7/14 - University of Arkansas head basketball coach Mike Anderson during practice Tuesday October 7, 2014 at Bud Walton Arena on the campus of the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville.

Arkansas extended a scholarship offer to power forward Andrew Gordon on Thursday.

Gordon, 6-10, 210 of South Kent Prep School in Connecticut said he's working to set up an official visit to Fayetteville and the Oct. 23-25 weekend is a possibility.

He played football at Dunedin High School in Florida and was set to attend Garden City Community College, but gave basketball a try his senior year and averaged 9.8 points and 2.5 rebounds to help his school to the playoffs for the first time since 2002. He has added several offers since playing for Team Speights of St. Petersburg, Fla. during the summer.

A highly regarded football prospect committed to a Power Five conference team said he spoke to Arkansas this week and is planning to visit the Hogs soon. This is the same prospect that reported back in August the Razorbacks were recruiting him very hard.

Arkansas quarterback commitment Cole Kelley of Lafayette, (La.) Teurlings Catholic was 20 of 36 for 252 yards, 1 touchdown and had 2 interceptions in last week's big win over Breaux Bridge.

Hog fullback commit Hayden Johnson of Columbia, (Mo.) Rock Bridge had 8 tackles and 2 tackles for loss last week. DL Arkansas defensive line commitment Briston Guidry of Metairie (La.) Rummel had 5 unassisted tackles, 6 assisted tackles, .5 sacks and 4 tackles for loss last week.
