Clarke cut by Celtics

Arkansas' Coty Clarke, right, moves past Marcus Thornton of Georgia Saturday, March 1, 2014, during the first half of the game at Bud Walton Arena in Fayetteville.

Coty Clarke has been waived by the Boston Celtics, the team announced Tuesday.

The former Arkansas forward signed a non-guaranteed deal with the Celtics in September and has been with the team during training camp.

He was considered a long-shot to make the 15-man NBA roster, but he is expected to play for Boston's D-League affiliate in Maine.

In the Celtics' five preseason games, Clarke appeared in only one game and played less than a minute. He didn't register any statistics.

Before joining the Celtics, he played one season for a team in Israel, where he averaged 19.4 points and 9.4 rebounds per game.
