Arkansas wins 40th cross country championship

— Arkansas cross country has won its 40th conference championship.

The Razorbacks scored 25 points to win the Southeastern Conference cross country championship meet in College Station, Texas, on Friday. Host school Texas A&M finished second with 98 points.

Arkansas placed four of the top six individual runners, including Christian Heymsfield in second place and Frankline Tonui in third.

Alabama's Antibahs Kosgei won the 8,000-meter race in a time of 23:24.1. The Razorbacks' Alex George was fifth and Austen Dalquist finished sixth.

Arkansas has won the SEC meet six consecutive years and 23 of 25 times since joining the league. The Razorbacks won their final 17 Southwest Conference championship meets before leaving for the SEC.
